Installation

Note: Tutorial is in the youtube video.

There are various methods for installing .jsxbin scripts in After Effects, depending on the version of the program you are using.

  • If you are using After Effects CC 2019 or a newer version:
  1. Go to File > Scripts > Install Script File OR Install ScriptUI Panel
  2. Locate the script file that you want to install and click “Select”
  3. If the installation is successful, you will receive a notification stating that the script has been copied to your preferences folder
  4. Restart After Effects for the changes to take effect
  5. Your script should appear in File > Scripts OR at the bottom of the “Window” menu (if you selected ScriptUI Panel)
  • If you are using an older version of After Effects, there are a few additional steps you will need to follow in order to install the script.

1. Copy the “LayerStacker.jsxbin” file to the After Effects script folder on your computer. The location of this folder will depend on whether you are using a Mac or a Windows machine.

  • For Mac users, the folder can be found at “Applications/After Effects (your version here)/Scripts/ScriptUI Panels” (or simply Scripts if you don't want it as ScriptUI Panel)
  • for Windows users, it can be found at “Program Files/Adobe/Adobe After Effects (your version here)/Support Files/Scripts/ScriptUI Panels” (or simply Scripts if you don't want it as ScriptUI Panel)

2. Close and reopen After Effects in order for the program to recognize the new script

3. The script should appear in the “Window” menu

It is worth noting that as most After Effect scripts, LayerStacker is dockable, which means that it can be placed wherever you prefer within the layout of After Effects.
